Easton | 23 Months Old

Picture Credit: My Mom! * I am more than a week late with this post! I have been working on it for days, but I got a new phone and had trouble downloading pictures and it was a whole thing!* As I sat down to type this, Easton ran into the kitchen, wearing his jammies, huge smile on his face, black and blue marks covering every inch of his forehead and yelling happily. Easton. Oh Easton. I can't believe you are almost TWO. How can this be? Soon I will have a three year old and a two year old. Until November anyway. I am not sure where to start with Easton - there is a lot to share this month...so I will just dive in. His love for letters continues, and he has demonstrated that he knows the entire alphabet - upper and lowercase. He picks letters out of objects that aren't letters - he has a really good eye for that. Sometimes I wonder if he might be an early reader, but then I realize it doesn't matter if he is or not :) He can count to ten but has a lit...

Grayson | 3.5 Years Old!

I have been updating my blog each month with the latest on Easton, but I haven't done a post about Grayson is MUCH too long. I stopped with my monthly updates at 2 years old for Grayson, and I will probably do that with Easton too. It's my intention to someday have books made of those first two years of blog posts for both of them to read - their own kind of baby book. So anyway, this entire blog post today is dedicated to my Gray-baby. Because he is still very much my Gray-baby. At his last doctor's visit he only weighed about 34 pounds, and his height is a mystery to me. I am about 5 foot 1 and he comes up to my elbow...so maybe three feet tall? Hard to say. To me, he is so skinny but according to the doctor, he still is good in the percentiles! He wears 3T clothes. He tolerates socks and Converses for school days, and his Natives for when we have to run errands, but otherwise you will find him barefoot like a little hillybilly. His hair is still blond but is l...

Easton | 22 Months

This past month has been a big month for our Easton! We made a trip to the doctor because I thought he had an ear infection (he didn't - more on that later) and he weighs about 30 lbs - just a few pounds less than Grayson! His looks are changing but he is still very much Easton. Grayson's looks changed all the time while he was getting older - and they still are - but not Easton. :) He still looks just like he did when he was a newborn. We are trying to phase out his high chair. It's not going the best. But I will be SO happy when that high chair is out of my kitchen, and I no longer trip on its stupid legs! :) He officially knows all of his letters and is starting to point them out wherever we go. The other day we went over a railroad track crossing with just the cross-hatch signs, and Easton announced, "ECK! ECK!" I was impressed. Instead of saying W, he says "you you." Along with letters, he is also doing colors. He grabbed my hai...

Autism Blesses Me

A few weeks ago, Mike and I sat next to each other at the developmental pediatrician's office, after enduring hours of grueling evaluations that did NOT go over well for our small son. We watched him climbing all over the waiting room, squealing with laughter and running over for quick hugs while we waited for the doctor to come in and tell us everything that we already knew. Autism. Sensory Processing Disorder. Language Delay. Global developmental delays. All explained to us in a very matter-of-fact, sorry-about-your-luck kind of way. We walked out of that office feeling like we had been punched in the guts. Okay. I can't speak for Mike, but that's how I felt. As we trekked home with Grayson snoozing in his carseat in the back, we allowed the morning to just kind of sink over us like a dense fog. None of this came as a surprise. We have had suspicions of course. But the permanency of this, seeing it in writing as official diagnoses, hearing the doctor speak those...

Easter...continued!

After we visited with my parents, we headed home for a few hours to rest up because we knew the evening at the farm would be filled with a lot of running! The boys love to stretch their legs and visit the cows at Mike's parents' farm. Easton especially loves the cows! Such a big boy! Sitting next to Grandma. Meet little Boone. Boone is just a few days old. Easton loves the cows so much. I mean. HE ADORES THEM. Grayson? Not so much. He wanted to be held the entire time. But not Easton. He entertained us with a variety of hilarious faces. Giggles! A sweet moment with Daddy. And then Mommy got a snuggle! That Grandpa Dave! He is SO goofy! The boys love his antics. I wonder where they get their goofiness from? :) Mule ride. If you could only hear the squeals of glee occurring as I took this picture. Happiness. Ended the evening with an Easter egg hunt :) Al...
