I need a hobby...

Today while Mike was getting ready for work, I was sitting on the bed listening to him talk excitedly about the new hobby he wants to start. I was distracted because I was just thinking about how I don't even have one hobby, but he has like ten. Each time off, he dedicates hours to working out, running, shooting and sometimes kayaking. He is always scheduling time to read so many chapters of his latest book on the Navy SEALS or re-reading Warrior Ethos. Now granted a good portion of that is maintenance for work. But how cool is it that the things he enjoys doing also weave into work for him? I can't say that because I don't work, and when I did, I liked my job but I was not particularly great at it. I did NOT spend my time off trying to hone my work skills so that I would be better at my job. But that's Mike for you. As he was strapping on his gun belt, I decided to interrupt him as he talked about the cost savings of reloading ammo verse purchasing it in bulk becau...

Life Lately

Well we've met a couple of pretty big milestones around these parts. Grayson can now open doors. I know - he's a little behind in learning how to do that - and I am totally okay with that - because the kid is a flight risk. I mean. FLIGHT RISK. My biggest fear is the police finding him in the middle of the night and we didn't even know he left the house. This does happen to autistic kids and pretty frequently, so if you think that is kind of dumb thing to be worried about, think again. I've already turn the door chime alarms on our doors thanks to our security system, and we are talking about getting locks out of his reach. We discuss the importance of "STOP" and "staying with Mommy and Daddy at all time." SO far anyway, he appears to understand that when he is in his room and the door is shut that means quiet time. And if he opens it, he sees Mommy's mean face ;) Today I had both boys when I went to pick Gray up at school, and Easton was thr...

Prisoner In My Own Home

Okay, so this post will probably read slightly dramatic if I am writing it correctly. My kids are at the age - and let's be honest - have been at the age since their births - that I am now a prisoner in my home. Thankfully I can escape now and again thanks to my porch railing and baby gate. Let's refer to that as the prison yard shall we? When I see moms out and about running errands effortlessly with their one, two, three, four and sometimes five children, I wonder what that is like. What is it like to walk somewhere with your kids - like into a store - and one of them isn't trying to run away and the other one isn't trying to bite your hand in order to free it's grasp on his hand? What's that like? For moms who are reading this and can perform this type of sorcery, please share your secrets with me. Wait. Don't. Actually I don't want to know. Where is this all stemming from? Well I will tell you. Today I went to my MOD group that was ...
