Things you need to know if we are going to be BFFs...

I was reading the blogger Little Miss Momma and she wrote a post about "Things you need to know if we are going to be BFFs..." - I thought that was such a neat prompt, and that I would give it a try.  Also I am waiting up for Mike to call me since he works until 2 am - and the baby has been asleep for hours. I am finding myself with a little free time. I really should be doing laundry. Oh well. Ahem. I love Pepsi fountain soda. I will drink it in a can, but I prefer it in fountain soda form. I have been known to consider a Pepsi poured over crushed ice as dessert. (FYI - I have actually stopped drinking soda so just typing this out as been a little bit of torture for me!) :) Mike and I got married in the middle of a hurricane. I do not like Velveeta cheese. Or Hamburger Helper. Much to Mike's chagrin. Sometimes I make those meals just for him, and he LOVES it.  I broke my bottled water habit when we moved from Cbus. Haven't purchased it i...

Six Months | Grayson

Image
Sweet Baby Gray turns 6 months this week. That means...half of one year. In six months, we will be celebrating his first birthday. WHAT. How is this even possible?! Those first excruciatingly slow days and weeks are history. Time is flying by. Even the longest of days where he cries and fusses for what seems like hours, they always end way too soon. I am not at all capable or qualified to put what the past six months have meant to me into words and do it complete justice, so I am not even going to try. If you have had a little one, you know how I feel. I have these snapshots of memories that I will always hold dear...too many to take the time to record here because I would be writing for hours. Literally. I have been doing a lot of thinking during these days while I gaze on his sleeping face. About the man he will become, the great things in life he will accomplish, the lives he will touch. He has so many possibilities at his fingertips, so much potential. I believ...

A Concert Date.

Image
When I found out that my favorite band - Relient K - was going to be stopping on tour about an hour from us, I asked Mike to take me to the concert as a birthday gift.  He readily agreed because he also really likes them, and it has been about 3 years since we last saw them in concert. We are both pretty big fans - dating back over a decade for me and a few years less than that for him. This song is the first song I ever heard of theirs. After I heard it, I knew I had to buy all of their albums. And I did! But this song in particular...it has given me comfort on some of my darkest, hardest days and continues to be my go-to song when life gets hard sometimes. Mike asked me where I wanted to eat - and I didn't even think twice! Qdoba is my favorite fast food Mexican. :) Haven't been there in over a year. It did NOT disappoint :) We got into town a little early, so we went to the South Campus Gateway. We reminisced about our dating days when Mike was atte...

Gone Antiquing...

Image
Mike and I went antiquing today. I say that but we never really buy anything. We don't have a lot of "stuff" for decorating because its just too hard with friends with little kids and a baby that will be crawling soon. I just like looking at all the stuff. Mike took me to get some tortilla soup at Max and Erma's. I have not been to Max and Erma's for my favorite meal EVER in 6 months. SIX MONTHS, my friends. I now have to drive over a half hour for a delicious bowl of tortilla soup instead of just 5 minutes like in Cbus. We went to an antique store that we frequent every year or so. In years past, I have only found two things that I have kicked myself for not purchasing - three glass-bottomed bowls in pastel colors and a cookie jar shaped as a house just like my Grandma W.  This store is huge and I think we probably wandered around for two hours or so. It's like "my" Cabelas. I purchased these vintage Shiny Brites! Did you know I ...

Living Intentionally in 2013!

Since becoming a mother, a lot about me has changed (understatement of the year). I am really learning who I am. I feel like motherhood has a way of exposing our true characters, and I'll be honest and say that I cringe when I see some of my true character coming out. It's not all bad of course - I do have SOME redeeming qualities :) But I want to build my own character. I want my son to see how I live and be inspired - much like I have been by my own parents. I worry sometimes that Grayson will not see me as an inspirational figure. His daddy goes out every day, finds the bad guys and takes care of the good guys. There is something very admirable about that profession, one that little kids love to emulate by playing cops and robbers! Mike is also very brave, kind, genuinely funny and caring. I think he is a shoo-in when it comes to being an inspirational figure. Along with Mike, I have several friends that inspire me to be a better person. One that comes right to mind is m...
