Grayson | 3.5 Years Old!

I have been updating my blog each month with the latest on Easton, but I haven't done a post about Grayson is MUCH too long. I stopped with my monthly updates at 2 years old for Grayson, and I will probably do that with Easton too. It's my intention to someday have books made of those first two years of blog posts for both of them to read - their own kind of baby book.

So anyway, this entire blog post today is dedicated to my Gray-baby. Because he is still very much my Gray-baby. At his last doctor's visit he only weighed about 34 pounds, and his height is a mystery to me. I am about 5 foot 1 and he comes up to my elbow...so maybe three feet tall? Hard to say. To me, he is so skinny but according to the doctor, he still is good in the percentiles!

He wears 3T clothes. He tolerates socks and Converses for school days, and his Natives for when we have to run errands, but otherwise you will find him barefoot like a little hillybilly. His hair is still blond but is losing that tow-head look. Instead it's becoming a wild mop of hair that has been almost impossible to tame or cut.

He loves strawberry nutrigrain bars, pizza, pancakes, cookies (any kind), ice cream, applesauce, cheese (shredded only), crackers, chicken mcnuggets (sometimes), french fries, rolls, any type of bread...so yeah. His diet is not balanced or even that healthy, but I am doing the best I can. *sigh* We did buy him some vitamin drops and will start those whenever I remember to give them to him ;)

On his developmental pediatrician's recommendation, we took him in for some blood work - genetic testing that we are still waiting to hear the results, testing for Celiac's Disease (which came back negative!) and some other panels - and the only one that came back low was his ferritin level. Unfortunately this week he starts taking ferritin drops in the evening, two hours after dinner as he can't have any calcium two hours before or two hours after he takes the medicine. Taking him in for bloodwork was the absolute worse, and it took Mike, me and a tech in order to hold him down while another tech took FOUR vials of blood. We have a repeat of that in 3 months so pray for us.

Grayson loves Daddy, bubbles, his bear pillow, jumping on his bed, jumping on furniture, running through the house screaming at the top of his lungs in a happy way, playing with his Little People barn, playing with the ball, going for car rides and bath time. He loves to go with Mike for runs, and he just likes to run period - but he is doing much better listening to us to stay close.  He likes to take long walks while holding my hand. He also likes catch basins in parking lots...future civil engineer?? He likes riding on the Mule at the farm and while he does loves his grandmas, the grandpas are the first to get his attention. Grayson loves school and his teachers, and especially his aide Angie.

Grayson usually falls asleep around 8:30 and can sleep as late as 9. Sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night to jump on his bed and yell, but that doesn't happen too often anymore. He is now taking a good nap with prompting by me everyday for about two hours. He sleeps better than his brother during the day for sure. He is extremely cuddly in the morning and wants to be held while he is waking up, which I just think is the cutest thing ever. It's not unusual for him to come over to me throughout the day for a hug and a kiss.

He enjoys watching The Letter Factory. Sometimes he likes to play on the iPad but recently he hasn't shown much interest. He also likes Veggie Tales and Peppa Pig. And he likes Thomas in small doses.

He DOES NOT like when I wear my glasses and he often reaches to take them off by himself or takes my hands up to the frames and takes them off that way. He does not like being told no - even in a quiet and calm voice. He does not like when Easton cries or when the music is too loud, and he covers his ears. He is a door slammer and a serial nudist!

He has been surprising us left and right - especially at speech therapy and occupational therapy that he attends once a week. He has 50 plus words now, and he has started to apologize when he does something he knows he shouldn't have. He is still not speaking conversationally but we are seeing gains. Within the last two days, he has spoken two full and complete sentences! "I want to go." And what we thought was, "Baby? I don't want a baby!" (He was listening in on a conversation I was having with a friend.)

His favorite thing to ask for is "Milk and ghee" which would be milk and cookies. When he brings you a cup that means he wants water.  He likes to say "Come on now" and "Ready Set Go!" in appropriate settings.

He never ever turns down an opportunity to take a selfie with me, especially if he can stick his tongue out in it.

Grayson is a JOY. He is silly, sweet, loving and tender-hearted. He is my best buddy, and I love spending time with him and trying to figure out what he is thinking or how he is viewing the world. I can't believe he was a sweet baby not that long ago, and he is turning out to be a sweet little boy too!

We love when our friends and family can see the potential in him that we see. My cousin Jennifer's friend Jennifer (yes you read that right!) is someone I have known for probably close to 25 years. We reconnected about four years ago at another cousin's wedding, and she and I became Facebook friends. She wrote me one day that she had a dream that Grayson would be a photographer and that in her dream she taught him how to take pictures. About a week later a kid's digital camera and this sweet card showed up on our doorstep! WOW. This made my year!
