Jovie Mariah
I just wanted to give a little update on how our littlest little is doing. I am almost 34 weeks, and last Monday I had just a routine OB appointment. As I sat in the waiting room, I could feel her moving around quite a bit before the appointment, but when the nurse checked for heart tones - she couldn't get a good read on her. She probably listened for about 5 minutes - which if you have ever been in that position - feels like 10 hours. I started to get light-headed from laying on my back that long, so she had me sit up for a bit before trying again. The second attempt was unsuccessful but I knew she was okay because I could feel her. The nurse wasn't sure if she was getting my heartbeat (that had started to race) and that it was eclipsing the baby's which it has done in the past during this pregnancy and Easton's too.
She sent my doctor in, and she listened for awhile - she could hear an abnormality with the heart rate - almost like the baby was skipping beats. She sent me right to OB for monitoring and for an ultrasound. As I was being monitored, she stopped in to check on me and read the output - the baby had good accelerations but the decelerations were a little concerning. Nevertheless she said she thought I would be out of there soon - but the minute she left the room, the baby's heart was abnormal again! She stepped back into the room and listened. Then came down and checked on me and watched part of my ultrasound as it was being done.
During the ultrasound I could hear and see her heart beating abnormally which was very concerning.
They put me on an IV drip so I could get some fluids and took a ton of blood for labs. Then I was sent home. She told me she thought I needed to see a high risk specialist - so she scheduled that for me on Friday of this coming week. Depending on what they see on Friday, Jovie may need a fetal echocardiogram.
When she hiccups or moves, I have always felt like her movement was very jerky - and it makes me wonder if it is her heartbeat that is causing her to move that way. That's probably just a lot of speculation of course. I am trying to focus on my boys and my typical day to day - but I am struggling. If you could pray for her and for me, I would appreciate it. :) Thanks.
