Easton | 7 Months

Easton will be 7 months old next week! Whoa. I am not sure how this happened.



But the fact remains the same - he's growing up, getting older, and teaching us that he is so silly! His personality is just blooming every day, and it is such a joy to experience.

- He weighs 17 lbs. And I am not sure how long he is but I think he grew a few inches. I am a bad mom for not remembering, I guess - ha! :) And then I found this picture!



- He rolls everywhere. He really gets around. Not crawling yet, but I think that will be coming soon. I am alright with that!


- He is sitting up for a few minutes at a time before tumbling over. 

- Applesauce is his favorite. And he likes carrots. He also like to blow strawberries while he is eating so I am also covered with food. He upgraded from the Bumbo to the high chair this week as Grayson decided he was a big boy and wanted to sit at the counter.

- Nothing is safe from his clutches. He has to grab on to everything - especially my hair.

- Everything goes in his mouth. EVERYTHING. Grayson was never like that, so I am kind of amazed and maybe a little appalled that he puts everything he can get his hands on into his mouth. He does not discriminate. I am constantly sweeping the carpet in our family room, and I am dreading the day he can crawl into the kitchen because it is impossible to keep the floor in there clean.

- No teeth yet!

- He was dedicated at church after Christmas :)

-  He is HILARIOUS. He is always smiling and laughing.(But not at night. I'll get to that in a minute.) He is so happy! Grayson was a happy baby too - lots of smiles and laughs - but Easton does not have a lot of stranger danger just yet. I can leave him in the nursery at church and not worry about him at all. Easton loves to ham it up with his daddy.



- He may be a cheerful baby. But not at night. Never at night. Right around the time Grayson goes to bed, Easton winds up and is so incredibly fussy. Then it is about three hours of constant soothing, rocking, walking, back-rubbing, etc. It is unusual for me to get him to fall asleep before Mike gets home from work around 11. We are often up in the middle of the night for diaper changes and feedings too. He does CIO every now and again, but we are struggling to find a more consistent schedule.

- He has done a lot of crib sleeping, but the last week has been very sick and stuffy with a bad upper respiratory infection so he has been sleeping in his rock and play. The incline helped him breathe a little bit better, but he really hates being in there. He would try to flip to his stomach and then get stuck, and oh the tears!



- He responds very well to us saying his name and will cackle in response.

- He loves his brother. He loves to play with his brother. He loves when his brother gives him kisses or helps with his pacifier. It's really sweet!

- He could take or leave the pacifier. He falls asleep without it all the time. He can take the pacifier out and put it back in with very little difficulty.

- He had his first RSV test, and it was terrible. Broke my heart. He always seems to have some congestion - ever since he was a month old actually. But he got his first full blown illness complete with fever this month :(

43 and worried

I turned 43 yesterday.  A few weeks ago, I had to get my license renewed. I was feeling okay until I pulled out my old license and went to hold it up against my new license image. Mike caught me doing this, and he said, "NO! Don't do it, Erin!" which made us both laugh until I looked down and was shocked by the contrast. Four years ago, 20 pounds lighter (at least), smiling, hair perfectly done (or as well as I could do hair which isn't ever that great), I looked at least my age. Mike once remarked that of all the many license pictures he sees, mine was a really great picture. (But I know four years ago, life was no easier than it is now - in some ways it was harder.) But then the current picture. No life in the eyes or maybe just a lot of sadness, an abundance of wrinkles, hair that was out of place, and attempt at a half-hearted smile and a few additional chins. He's he-ere!

Introducing... Grayson Michael Born 11/25/12 at 3:02 am Grayson entered the world via emergency c-section. Mike got to step into the role of Daddy immediately and went with the baby while I was in the recovery room. They got to spend some time bonding in the nursery. Grayson is such a joy! He and his daddy hit it off immediately. There is nothing more attractive than watching your husband turn into a daddy. Be still my heart. We were in the hospital for SO many days...I could not wait to get home. I missed my bed. Which funny enough, I haven't gotten to sleep in since that first night home. Taking the steps more than once a day is just too difficult right now. So for now, we have been crashing on the couch. Unfortunately Gray had problems with jaundice, and he had light therapy with a bili blanket. Mike told people his son was rocking a low profile LED light bar - just like a police cruiser ;)  I love his little frowny face :) ...

Ready for the next season...

Usually I love spring. But this year is a different story. Spring has been mostly gray, cold and dreary - and with it, it has brought a great deal of heartache. With the uptick in aggressive behaviors from Grayson (thanks a lot, puberty) and the realization that we are now a year into being provider-less, to being told that Gray was too severe for one provider company, to having to research and call around to group homes to see if they are a good fit for Gray,  to Grayson's constant elopement attempts, to realizing that Grayson goes to therapy and comes home...he has very little to do for fun and he has no one outside of the family or his dedicated therapists to invest in him.  To make matters worse, right now Grayson gets very upset - to the point of property-damaging, when either Mike or I leave the house without him.
