Six Months | Grayson
Sweet Baby Gray turns 6 months this week.
That means...half of one year. In six months, we will be celebrating his first birthday.
WHAT. How is this even possible?!
Those first excruciatingly slow days and weeks are history. Time is flying by. Even the longest of days where he cries and fusses for what seems like hours, they always end way too soon.
I am not at all capable or qualified to put what the past six months have meant to me into words and do it complete justice, so I am not even going to try. If you have had a little one, you know how I feel. I have these snapshots of memories that I will always hold dear...too many to take the time to record here because I would be writing for hours. Literally.
I have been doing a lot of thinking during these days while I gaze on his sleeping face. About the man he will become, the great things in life he will accomplish, the lives he will touch. He has so many possibilities at his fingertips, so much potential. I believe in him already.

| Mike's new nickname for Grayson :) |
This month has been full of changes for our Grayson:
- He has mastered the art of eating solid-ish foods. Rice cereal is a favorite. Apples, carrots and green beans are met with much excitement. Peas, however, he tucks into the corner of his mouth and then spits them out later. Sweet potatoes upset his stomach, so we are shelving those for a few months.

- We have been working on saying "ma-ma" and "da-da." Whenever I say this to him, he looks at me quite inquisitively...I don't ever speak in baby talk (other than to call him Grayson Bayson) to him, so I am sure this confuses him! The other night he was playing with Mike and saying "da da" over and over again. Now we know he doesn't know that Mike is "da-da" but it's a start.
- In that same vein, Mike and I always laugh at Grayson when he gets frustrated because he makes this growling noise that sounds like he is saying my name. I kid you not. My parents have heard him do it, and they can testify that it really does sound like he is saying, "Errrrrrrrr-in." :)
- He can cross his ankles now! He did panic momentarily thinking he could not un-cross them - but once he figured it out, he always seems to have them crossed. Sometimes I catch him sleeping with his ankles crossed - just like me! :)

- He has been getting lots of hair on his head - it is coming in fine and very very blond. Both Mike and I were towheads as little kids, so that makes sense. He still has a dark fringe - kind of looks like bangs - or so I have been told :)
- He is sleeping through the night like a champ. Only it has been an uphill battle to get him to sleep in his crib - and not in the bassinet. Ugh. I cringe just thinking about it. Once we get through this weekend of crazy OT for Mike, we are going to try to get him to sleep in his crib again. We are probably making all the mistakes first time parents make - but they are our mistakes, and we are going to learn from them! :)
- He is a small fry...well weight-wise anyway. He only weighs 13 lbs 15 oz. He did grow two inches since his last appointment. He has a weight check in a month. I am getting so tired of these weight checks. Hopefully adding more solid food to his diet will help him gain a little weight!
