Gone Antiquing...

Mike and I went antiquing today. I say that but we never really buy anything. We don't have a lot of "stuff" for decorating because its just too hard with friends with little kids and a baby that will be crawling soon. I just like looking at all the stuff.

Mike took me to get some tortilla soup at Max and Erma's. I have not been to Max and Erma's for my favorite meal EVER in 6 months. SIX MONTHS, my friends. I now have to drive over a half hour for a delicious bowl of tortilla soup instead of just 5 minutes like in Cbus.

We went to an antique store that we frequent every year or so. In years past, I have only found two things that I have kicked myself for not purchasing - three glass-bottomed bowls in pastel colors and a cookie jar shaped as a house just like my Grandma W.

This store is huge and I think we probably wandered around for two hours or so. It's like "my" Cabelas.

I purchased these vintage Shiny Brites! Did you know I have a Shiny Brite obsession?
Because I do.
Here are some of my other finds (that I did not purchase) :

I love these bowls. Such pretty colors.
But not the price. Over 50 bucks for all.
No thank you.

Mike and I loved this bank of lockers.
We thought we could paint them and put them in Grayson's room over his bed someday.
The price tag was hefty - almost $1000 - so of course we passed.

A little rolltop desk similar to my grandma and grandpa's.

Oh the beautiful old Fiestaware. Lead-paint-laden dishes but so pretty :)

This looks like the lost member of the Wise Men Trio my grandma hand-painted.
Look how delightfully creepy he is!

Here's the original Wise Men Trio that is now hanging in the home of my dear friend, Bee.

Love this. Looks like one my parents have.

*Happy Sigh*

Love this beautiful cookie jar!

But NOT this weird Ken as The Tin Man
This is the stuff of nightmares.
Along with the lost member of the Wise Man Trio.

This was my FIRST Cabbage Patch Doll.
Hildy.
Here she is in mint-condition.
I stood there for a minute and nearly had a Will-Ferrell-As-Buddy-The-Elf  moment.
You know - when he sees Santa outside of the North Pole but it's the department store Santa?
SANTA!!!!!!
Instead I almost yelled "HILDY!!!!!'
But for $30 and not a little girl - yet - to pass her down to, I walked away from this.
I have been kicking myself ever since.
Add not purchasing this sweet Cabbage Patch doll to my list of antique store regrets.

We came home to this precious face.
Oh how I missed him....even for just a few hours.
His smile makes everything better.
