Much to celebrate :)
This time last year, Mike and I were celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary and purchasing our first home. It was a very memorable anniversary - one I will never forget. I never thought that this year's anniversary would top that.
But it did.
This year, we celebrated half a decade of marriage (makes it sound like we have been married longer, doesn't it?) and the fact that Mike turned in his two weeks notice at the grocery store.
Why did he do that? You ask. Well...I'll tell you. Mike got a new job! And not just a job - but a chance at having a career in a field he has been wanting to get into for quite some time.
This is something that we have prayed about for over two years. Yes. You read that right. Ever since that miserable couple of weeks where Mike was laid off from his job of 8 months in Cleveland, and we had to pack all of our worldly belongings into a Budget truck once again and move back to Columbus, completely astounded by the turn of events in our life. Then there were the numerous job interviews that seemed promising and never panned out - and probably the hardest one of all - Mike was chosen as local police force's second pick and then due to funding, they did not end up hiring him. This is not how we had planned it - not at all. But our plans are not always God's plans, and we found comfort in that something was out there. for Mike. Somewhere.
Then it happened. The phone call, the months of testing and interviews, and now this - getting a letter of employment!
To the many people who prayed us through this trying time, you are close to our hearts! Keep praying because the hardest part is yet to come as Mike will be in rigorous training until early next year and will be home only on the weekends. Life will be changing drastically for us, but it will be well worth it in the end.
I can't say if I will be blogging more or less during Mike's absence. I guess I will wait and see. :)
