Easton's First Birthday Party

Image
Sometimes I feel like Easton gets the short end of the stick. He is so laid back and easy compared to Grayson so he doesn't require as much as my attention. And I always try to keep things fair between my boys, but guess what...it's not possible. I wanted to throw a nice birthday party for Easton because he never ended up having a get together for his dedication at church. I know. He was like 6 months old at the time. He is not going to remember not having a dinner in his honor. Same with this 1 year old birthday party. But I will remember so I guess I am just trying to make everything count. If that makes any sense. We decided on a taco night theme. I whipped up some invitations and sent them to the grandparents and two families with kids. We had a nice turn little out in honor of our kiddo. I was prepping up a storm. Each family got to take a pinata home with candy in it. I made a wall of Easton pictures :) I put them up a week or two b...

Big Boy Bed = Disaster

Image
Grayson has been having a couple of hard weeks. I won't go into it, because it really doesn't matter. Each family has their trials. And his behavior is one of ours, I am afraid! Considering he is 2.5, I was a little concerned that he was still sleeping in his crib. But he loved sleeping in his crib and rarely gave us problems at bed time. It was so easy on him - and let's be honest - on me too! - so I thought maybe once he starts climbing out of the crib, we would transition him into his toddler bed which can be converted from his crib. However I was not at all prepared for him to actually do that. I knew the day was coming but I was ignorant! :) And then it happened. Mike, Easton and I were downstairs one morning when we heard a huge crash from upstairs. Mike's first responder training mixed with concerned fatherhood kicked in and he was up the stairs in a half a second. I was on his heels with Easton in my arms. Mike threw open Grayson's door and scooped him...

Easton | 1 YEAR ?!?!

Image
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. How can my baby be one year old. I need a minute. I have no words. Okay that is not true. I have many many words to share about Easton. Not unlike his brother, he has various nicknames all given to him by his father mostly. ;) Such as: Squeebs. Squeebedebeep. Easty. Easty-bay. Squeeblet. Squeebles. Easty-beasty-boy. E-baby. East. Sometimes I slip up and call him Easton Michael even though that isn't his middle name. The terms of endearment situation in this family has gotten a little out of hand. I will admit it. At one year old, Easton continues to be hilarious. He has the motions to "SO BIG" down to a science. He often holds his hands up in the air like he is praising the Lord, which I just love so much. Sometimes he will just lift one hand in the air, and I adore it. He waves hello and goodbye. He can easily give you a high-five. He also says "hi" on occasion. One other thing...he says "Achoo" in respons...

Show and Tell Tuesday | Show Us Your Yard

Image
I am linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals today to give you a little tour around our yard. But I have a slight caveat - since we don't have much of a yard to speak of, I thought I would share just a little bit about our house and our front porch as we spend a lot of time out there. Our house is just three years old, but it is the newest home in this section of town. A very old abandoned house used to stand on our lot until a few years ago when a local builder purchased it and razed it to build our current home - though we didn't know at the time that we would end up buying it. That's another story for another day! So the house that used to sit on our lot, looked like this: (Thank you, Google Maps and your historical data!) And another view: Totally creepy, right? I am pretty sure it was haunted. From what we gather and the stories we have heard, the original house was falling down around itself and housed all sorts of interesting characters. ...

The Many Facial Expressions of Easty

Easton is usually my twin. But the consensus is in and he looks a lot like Mike in these pictures! (For the record he was fascinated by what was on TV.) Easton is turning one in just ten days. He is just the happiest, sweetest, most loving little kid.  We love him so much!

Gray's Trip to the Audiologist and other horror stories.

One year ago today, Grayson was evaluated by Help Me Grow for his speech delay. He was just shy of 19 months old, and I was 36 weeks and 6 days pregnant with Easton. A lot has happened in a year. We have seen a lot of improvement in Grayson's speech because he is talking now. Only we don't know what he is saying, but he has inflection and sometimes replies to us when we ask a question. Again, it is not always clear what he is trying to communicate. I thought we would be further in progress at this point - that he would be talking up a storm, but that is not the case. He has a vocabulary of words that he uses appropriately, so I do think some improvement has been made. So we press on. Today he went to the audiologist for his hearing test. Mike was working - never again will I attempt to even think about taking one of our sons to a specialist without Mike's being able to join us. We will work around his crazy schedule if we need too. However, my very sweet friend Stev...

Out-take of the Every Day | More Water Fun

Image
The boys and I spent most of Memorial Day with my parents. I took our water table over to their house. Easton had so much fun with it, and so did Grayson when he wasn't trying to climb into the water table completely. He preferred being doused with a pitcher of water courtesy of Grandpa.
