Family Pictures

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine (Lizzie Jane Photography) came to our house and took our family pictures. We live within walking distance to the park so we walked down for a number of these shots. She was so good with my crazy kids, and we were very pleased with how the pictures turned out. We probably won't ever get a perfectly posed family picture again - and that's okay. I like the look of lifestyle pictures for my little family :)

Also Grayson was sick this day with a GI issue - but he was a trooper and went through the pictures - and even had a really good time playing in the fountain. I felt bad for being "that mom" who forces her kids to do things when they don't feel well but the weather was perfect and I couldn't find another time for us to reschedule.

Jovie and Grayson both had meltdowns during the shoot - and Easton was on the verge. One pictures shows me trying to keep Jovie from climbing into the fountain. This is real life!

Today I am linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals  to share a little bit about my Momfessional Moments. You know those things you do that you feel a little guilty and embarrassed about, but you do it as a means to survive! We go for drives. A LOT. Grayson loves riding in the car. It is one of his favorite activities. And since I got my new car in November, it is also my new favorite activity. If I am feeling bored, or anxious or if someone is screaming and just won't stop, I load them up in the car and we go for a drive. I can turn my music on and turn my seat warmer up, and I am as happy as a clam. Good thing gas is cheap right now. I let my kids watch The Tonight Show. I have loved Jimmy Fallon for many years. And I usually try to catch it on Hulu after it airs each night. But lets face it, he's probably not the best example for my kids. He's he-ere!

Introducing... Grayson Michael Born 11/25/12 at 3:02 am Grayson entered the world via emergency c-section. Mike got to step into the role of Daddy immediately and went with the baby while I was in the recovery room. They got to spend some time bonding in the nursery. Grayson is such a joy! He and his daddy hit it off immediately. There is nothing more attractive than watching your husband turn into a daddy. Be still my heart. We were in the hospital for SO many days...I could not wait to get home. I missed my bed. Which funny enough, I haven't gotten to sleep in since that first night home. Taking the steps more than once a day is just too difficult right now. So for now, we have been crashing on the couch. Unfortunately Gray had problems with jaundice, and he had light therapy with a bili blanket. Mike told people his son was rocking a low profile LED light bar - just like a police cruiser ;)  I love his little frowny face :) ...

43 and worried

I turned 43 yesterday.  A few weeks ago, I had to get my license renewed. I was feeling okay until I pulled out my old license and went to hold it up against my new license image. Mike caught me doing this, and he said, "NO! Don't do it, Erin!" which made us both laugh until I looked down and was shocked by the contrast. Four years ago, 20 pounds lighter (at least), smiling, hair perfectly done (or as well as I could do hair which isn't ever that great), I looked at least my age. Mike once remarked that of all the many license pictures he sees, mine was a really great picture. (But I know four years ago, life was no easier than it is now - in some ways it was harder.) But then the current picture. No life in the eyes or maybe just a lot of sadness, an abundance of wrinkles, hair that was out of place, and attempt at a half-hearted smile and a few additional chins.
