How to Autism Proof Your Home Part II

Here's my checklist on how to autism proof your home:

- Do not buy anything of value.
- Basics basics basics.
- No decorations.
- Get rid of all clutter.
- Have adequate toy storage or just get rid of toys.
- Keep cleaning supplies on hand - clean up kits in each room is a goal of mine.
- Wear a lanyard with a house key and an interior door key.
- Hid all breakable possessions or give them away.
- Keep it simple.
- Put plexiglass over bedroom windows.
- Purchase a detachable shower head.
- Take doors off of hinges as necessary.
- Put locks on toilets and appliances.

I will add to this as I think of more ideas.

I am just short of putting hand sanitizer stations in each room. I mounted Grayson's PLS perimeter receiver on our kitchen wall so it's centrally located.

I have been a little worried about how to keep Grayson from escaping into the backyard - then I remembered that I have a motion detector somewhere so I plan to hook that up somehow. Might take a little creative engineering! I have also considered getting a Ring camera that focuses on the corner fence gate that I cannot easily see from the house.

Right now we are trying to tackle the madness that is our property damage. We have been talking with our builder about repairing the drywall, shiplaping or beadboarding all the walls that have been destroyed.

More info to come!
