Easton | THREE Years Old

On Tuesday, June 20th, Easton will turn THREE years old.

It is hard to believe our youngest will be the middle child soon. And he is going to be an awesome big brother.

At any given time you can hear Easton singing. He loves to sing - so he sings all the time. His favorites include The Itsy Bitsy Spider, the ABCS but with the ending that talks about 26 letters from A to Z, the number song (1,2 Buckle My Shoe version - with Grandma singing it "silly" per his request), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and The Wheels on the Bus.

He is a huge fan of TRAINS! Chuggington and Thomas are his favorites - and he loves listening for trains at our house since we live a block and a half from a busy railroad.

He often is carrying his toy of the moment - sometimes it's a train, sometimes it;s a magnetic letter, sometimes it's plastic Easter egg...you just never know.

He LOVES to COLOR! But not on paper...oh no, rarely on paper. He would much rather color on the walls *sigh*. He loves to talk about the colors of the crayons but to actually use them appropriately...well he is not there yet. He talks to his crayons on the rare occasion he gets to play with them. My mom said I was the same way so that brings me a little comfort and a lot of concern!

If he had his way, he would be on my phone all the time watching YouTube Kids - which I recently had to delete from my phone because he was watching creepy videos about Halloween, skeletons and goblins. If he gets the opportunity, that is the first thing he looks up so we have to really monitor that!

His favorite things to talk about are: french fries (he requests them hourly), dones (doughnuts), Grandma, Grandpa, Caw-Caw, Daddy, Grayson, the doggy (Daisy), the cows, "Grandma's in Texas" (she hasn't been in Texas in months but it is still talked about daily), that Mommy or Daddy is "grumpin", Ryan (his favorite Youtube personality) and "go to Grandma's?!"

He says the cutest things. This morning at 5 am when Mike was getting ready for work (because no one in our house sleeps anymore) Easton said to Mike, "Where you going?" And Mike said, "Work, Easton." And Easton said, "Of course, Daddy. We miss you so much." I thought Mike was going to cry! Easton is the cutest when he apologizes, "Sorry, Mommy" - with a sad face, and he understands and points out when Grayson is upset. "Grayson is sad, Grayson is mad, Grayson is sick" etc.

He is always "so so excited" or has "so so much fun".

Mike took him to the farm to see his cousins a couple of weekends ago, and when he got home, he told me, "I saw the cows, Mommy! And it was SO SO much fun!"

Easton LOVES the farm and requests to go there often to see the cows. He is fascinated by them, and he loves running up and down the road (it's mostly abandoned) in front of Grandpa and Grandma's and running through the yard. He also loves throwing the gravel in the air.

Everything is also "okay" or "okay, don't worry".

Easton's favorite foods are mandarin oranges, applesauce, blueberries (but he calls them strawberries), bananas, toast, animal crackers, Mama-juice (which is not what you think - it's unsweet iced tea!), pizza, French fries and chicken nuggets. Pretty standard fare for a three year old, I would say.

This year we have been dealing a lot with waking up in the middle of the night screaming. A friend of mine suggested eliminating a preservative that was in Easton's favorite breakfast bar and crackers. Sure enough - once I stopped that, the angry screaming in the middle of the night ended. He still doesn't sleep great but it is because he is a light sleeper. We have also had to deal with a lot of choking on food which makes me EXTREMELY nervous. His pedi suggested he might have acid reflux but the medication they offer him makes him throw up! So that was lose lose!

Easton doesn't fully grasp that his brother has a disability. We have been dealing with him mimicking behaviors, and it's difficult to discipline Easton for things Grayson is doing unintentionally. It's definitely been a balance that we haven't been able to strike yet...it's been really hard. Sometimes I get so bummed out because he struggles with getting along with Grayson, and Grayson reacts poorly. But he loves his brother so much, and it is evident!

Easton is hilarious, loving, cuddly and the bright spot to our dark days. He loves to give hugs, kisses and to make people laugh. He truly has the neatest sense of humor.

Easton, you are simply the best. Your dad and I are so proud of you, and we can't wait to see what your future holds. We think you are such a great kid, and we can't imagine what life would be like without you. We are so so glad you belong to us, and we love you SO MUCH!

Happy Third Birthday, Easty-Bee <3
