Jovie UPDATE!
On Friday, Mike and I went to see the high risk specialist. We got there a little on the early side, and for that I was grateful because it turns out they were triple-booked! If we had arrived later, we might still be there waiting to be seen ;) After the most thorough and even somewhat painful ultrasound I have ever had, the doctor came in to see us. Turns out he mentored my OB, so I felt like I was in great hands.
He reassured us that the baby can be born at our local hospital, that the heart condition will correct itself when she is born, and that she will be just fine.
I told him that I felt like she was shuddering while she was moving, and he shared that he hears that a lot but he is not entirely sure that is so much baby as it is just a contraction. So that gave me peace of mind.
I was so glad Mike could go to the appointment with me - we were relieved by what we heard. The whole experience leading up to it was scary. On the Monday before my appointment, Jovie was not responding at all to the non-stress test. It took the nurse a very long time to find her heartbeat for monitoring. In fact, she got out a device that vibrated my stomach in order to get the baby to move. Finally my doctor said to just send me down to ultrasound, where Jovie passed her biophysical profile quickly so for that I was relieved.
I found out this week that the baby REALLY doesn't like me drinking water - ugh - so I have been drinking decaffeinated iced tea just to stay hydrated. And chewing a lot of ice. Which I know is not so good for my teeth. I am actually craving plain shaved ice right this minute and might have to put our crushed ice maker on our refrigerator to work. I also may have had a Pepsi Freeze the other night - just to get that ice craving met!
Because of how Grayson has to sleep right now and the fact that I wasn't getting ANY sleep at all for most of this pregnancy, Mike is now sleeping with both boys in our bed and then I sleep in the boys room in Grayson's bed. It is NOT ideal and Mike said after the holiday weekend, he will move with the boys into their bedroom and get them used to sleeping in there. Easton won't have a problem with it, but I anticipate that Grayson really will.
When that change happens, I will be able to just get out of bed and use our bathroom the five times every night instead of what I have to do now which is come downstairs to use the restroom. I hate the toilet in the boys bathroom because it runs constantly after its been flushed - so annoying - so I refuse to use it.
And yes, I have been reduced to talking about toilets on my blog. Haha! I guess I will sign off here :)
