Life Lately

Life lately can be summed up into just a few brief bullet points:

- Absolutely zero sleep for all four of us.
- Lots of crying.
- Pinching, scratching and hitting like there is no tomorrow.
- Frustration.
- Toys tossed in the toilet.
- Sickness.

Life lately has been kind of crazy since school started. Not sure what is going on here, but I feel like the terrible twos and the three-nager business are in a power struggle at our home. No one wants to sleep at night, and when they do sleep it has to be in bed with Mike and me - something we have always said absolutely no to from the very beginning.

Life lately looks a lot tired, a little bedraggled, a little like my arms covered in bruises and scratches after a therapy session. Life lately looks a little like Veggie Tales and Peppa Pig on repeat because it is the only only thing that snaps Gray out of a meltdown, threats of taking the TV away FOR EVER, crushing up melatonin per doctor's orders and slipping it into milk before bed. It looks like I am just writing this post and one child came up and bit my arm while the other dumped his toys all over the family room.

Life lately is a mom who just needs two seconds to write out what she is thinking so she can continue forward. It's when Mike's schedule has been crazy and his days off have changed. Life lately looks like sad kids who don't get to see their daddy as much as they are used to during the week.

Life lately is a laptop mouse that freezes up every five minutes for no apparent reason.

This is my life, people.

But with it there are sweet moments.

Life lately is Easton's whose language is EXPLODING. It's amazing to hear him talk in full sentences, point out funny things when you didn't even think he was listening in the first place and sing songs.

HE SINGS SONGS.

Mike and I are just delighted by his sweet little voice singing any song from Peppa and the ABCS. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is probably our favorite. It's also me trying to not be resentful of people drawing unfair comparisons between Easton almost a year ago and kids his age - and man did he EVER show them how wrong they were.

Life lately is Grayson sneaking in a letter here and there when we say our ABCs.

Life lately is Grayson using new words when we least expect them. It's snuggling with Gray in the morning when he is at his cuddliest!

Life lately is Mike having three day weekends - though this weekend is the last of those. They have been nice though.

Life lately has been taco salad for dinner at my mom's, and playing in the yard with the boys and holding on to the last few hours of summer because I wish summer never had to end.

This is my life, people. :)
