A more cheerful update

Last night I wrote a terribly depressing Life Lately post, and then this morning I decided to delete it. However, it had already been emailed to my subscribers, so if you received that today and I totally bummed out your Labor Day, I apologize.

And while I still feel like that post was definitely about where I am in life, I guess I probably don't need to share every single hard thing about being a special needs parent on my blog.

So to counterbalance my negativity and try to put myself in a good mood, here are some good things going on here!

 - On Saturday evening, the boys and I went to the farm sans Mike. This is huge because Mike does the lion's share of watching Grayson at the farm because he can run after him better than me. To manage both of them by myself in wide open spaces is quite difficult, though I admit I think it is getting a bit better, but Grayson is still quite the flight risk.

However, family was visiting and I so wanted to see them, so we made it work.

Grayson did amazing at the farm. Grandpa and Grandma took him on a Mule ride, and when he got done with that, he was so incredibly happy. He was screaming excitedly and running towards me with the wind blowing in his hair. He gave me a huge hug then pulled my face down to his. I had trouble not bursting into tears right then and there. It was such a sweet moment, and one I hope to never forget!

He did not run away at all, and listened to me very well during our time at the farm. I hope hope hope this means I can take him out there by myself again more often. It is so beautiful and peaceful out there, and the boys just love it.

- Easton is talking so much! He asks so many questions. He makes me laugh! Yesterday I took the boys to church and met my parents there. Easton has always been obsessed with spoons. In fact, he calls them "ice cream" most of the time which just makes us smile - especially when he holds the spoon up to your lips like he is feeding you and says, "Mmmmm" :) Anyway he had grabbed a spoon before we left, but I chucked it into the back of my car before we got out of the car because under no circumstances did I want that spoon going into the church nursery! When we got home, I got into the back of my car for something and Easton says, "Where's the spoon?!"

He asks a ton of questions, but we don't always understand them. He always starts out with, "Mama?" But Daddy is his favorite, and he asks for him and about him all day long. He is so funny when he answers one of my questions with, "Of course!" He also says, "Awwwwww, Mama" when he gives me a hug :)

Both boys went to church yesterday and went to their respective classes. Our church began a special needs ministry, and Grayson's first time working with his own aide started yesterday. He did so well! I actually got to go to the service! It was a great experience for all three of us :) They even got "dressed up" for them, and I had to take a million pictures because I think they are too cute for words.

Easton was not a willing model but Grayson was. The last picture looks a little like a mug shot :)
