I need a hobby...
Today while Mike was getting ready for work, I was sitting on the bed listening to him talk excitedly about the new hobby he wants to start. I was distracted because I was just thinking about how I don't even have one hobby, but he has like ten. Each time off, he dedicates hours to working out, running, shooting and sometimes kayaking. He is always scheduling time to read so many chapters of his latest book on the Navy SEALS or re-reading Warrior Ethos. Now granted a good portion of that is maintenance for work. But how cool is it that the things he enjoys doing also weave into work for him?
I can't say that because I don't work, and when I did, I liked my job but I was not particularly great at it. I did NOT spend my time off trying to hone my work skills so that I would be better at my job.
But that's Mike for you. As he was strapping on his gun belt, I decided to interrupt him as he talked about the cost savings of reloading ammo verse purchasing it in bulk because I have heard him go over this cost analysis no less than 10 times - he is very thorough in his research before he embarks on a new hobby. I said, "I need a hobby."
"Maybe we should look at getting you a new computer so you can blog more," he said thoughtfully.
Too expensive. Our computer IS a piece of crap, but it works well for blogging...usually.
I look online and see my friends who garden, sew, bake, can foods, do cross-fit (what), run, ride bikes, read books, knit/crochet, take pictures, design, create...and I got nothing. And these are all mothers. Some of them are mothers of special needs kids too, so I can't even use that as my excuse to not have a hobby.
So I am starting NOW. I am in search of my next hobby.
Interestingly enough...about two years ago, I wrote a similar post: My New Hobby
While I still love to look at those fashion blogs, I am still rocking threadbare jeans and Mike's old tshirts - just yesterday I did that actually...so I don't think I can count that as my hobby anymore! Ha :)
