Show and Tell Tuesday | How to Win My Heart

I am linking up with Andrea today at Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesday! Today's topic is How to Win My Heart.

Maybe it's because I have been married for almost ten years now, but I really had to sit and think about what wins me over now.

When Mike and I first started dating, we got off to a little rocky start. But looking back, I thought he was kind.  He was really the first guy that I liked that actually liked me back. He was fun to be with, and he made me laugh. He was very respectful of me. He treated his mom nicely which I thought was sweet too - and key to how he would treat his future wife. He was also a loyal friend to just about everyone! :) All of that appealed to me. Oh yeah. He was also fresh out of the Army and had an edge that I found to be quite attractive, and a tattoo which I thought was crazy cool ;)

Now what appeals to me is that Mike is an incredible father. He loves our boys beyond measure. They are his biggest priority, and I love seeing him play with them, take care of them, comfort them, change their diapers with zero complaint - I mean he is just incredible. He works hard and provides for his family. He doesn't rush into anything - he is thoughtful and meticulous - especially when it comes to finances, and he always goes out of his way to make sure I get things that I would like or what I need. He has a servant's heart. He is usually quite optimistic and is the rational to my crazy.

We aren't big proponents of the love languages. Not that I don't think they are relevant, because they are - I know they have helped some people tremendously - but it's not anything we put much stock into. At a Bible study five years ago, we were sitting with a bunch of young marrieds who were still quite starry-eyed, and we went around and said what our love language was. It was meaningful to many of the couples until they got to us, and Mike stated quite proudly that bacon was his love language.

But if we are being serious, I think written word is definitely my "love language." I love song lyrics especially and I can get deep meaning from them - I have to be careful what I listen to honestly. I love letters and emails and text messages. I love to write and so it is a treat when I get something in written form - which usually comes as just a simple written message in a birthday card or a kind text message from Mike - or really anyone! That kind of thing.

Also another way to win my heart? Something sweet to eat! Peanut butter cups, chocolate doughnuts, etc all that stuff that is not good for you but tastes so good :)

What wins your heart over?
