Amish Country

Last week when my brother and his family were in town, we all drove to Amish Country. Thankfully it was Mike's day off so he could join us. We caravaned, with my little family in my car and the rest of the crew in my parents' car. It was quite a trip, and I honestly felt like we were in the car for hours. Not being familiar with the route and lots of winding roads put me on edge, but we made it there and back in one piece - though at times I wondered if that would be the case!

We stopped at this large Amish market. They have a petting zoo, a shop, a restaurant, a bakery and lots and lots of pumpkins!

We started out in the petting zoo first. I was pretty surprised that Grayson didn't seem to mind the animals. At his grandparents' farm and even at the fair he tends to flip out around large animals.

This time he did good though.

All pictures were taken by my dad, so all credit to him!

Watching the goats on the roof of the petting zoo.

Uncooperative on the big chair with Grandma.

And Mommy too.

He loves flowers. During our walks uptown, he often runs his hands through the flowers in the planters as we walk by.

We might have been arguing.

For dinner we tried to get in one restaurant, but the line was way out the door. No way we could make that work with four kids 3 and under! So we changed our plans and drove some more to a Der Dutchman about an hour from home. That wasn't the smoothest meal for my two boys, but when we sat down at the table, my nephew said, "Just like at home!" And that warmed my heart. It was nice to have a meal as the entire family.
