FIESTA.
I am not your normal person. Somewhere my husband is reading this and nodding in complete agreement.
I have a love affair with Fiestaware. Our romance began about ten years ago when I first laid eyes on a set of Fiestaware at Elder Beerman. It was love at first sight. Truthfully I had been eyeing vintage Fiestaware at antique stores for years but couldn't get behind purchasing any because of the lead paint concerns.
So when I purchased my first four sets of lovely lead-free Fiestaware, it was like I had been bitten by a bug and...sixteen settings later, I am still crazy about my Fiestaware.
My mother-in-law Beth knows this and often indulges me in my love of Fiestaware by purchasing me sets and other specialty items for Christmas. (She feeds the addiction so to speak! Haha!) So we have talked for a long time about going to an outlet store for Fiestaware that she knows of in Southern Ohio but we could never get a date settled between the two of us.
And when I read about Homer Laughlin (the parent company) hosting tent sales, I often dream about them! And in those dreams I am always standing in line and never making it into the sale.
So when I heard through a very perceptive friend who picked up on my love that Fiestaware was having a tent sale in Columbus, I knew we had to go.
Mike, Beth and I headed there recently and hand-picked nine place settings for my mom. She had told me what kind of colors she liked and what she needed, and we went from there.
You can imagine my surprise when we checked out and our total came to about 80 dollars! We had over $400 worth of dishes in our cart. (If not more.)
It wasn't an easy process. The dishes were just sitting in bins and they were filthy. A lot of them had imperfections in the glaze, but we were able to salvage what we needed with very few imperfections.
And now - pictures!
