Mother's Day 2015
Mother's Day is a little bittersweet this year. On Monday (my birthday) Mike's grandma passed away. She hadn't been well in a long time - years really - and she started hospice care a month or two ago. She was a neat lady, a kind person with a big heart for her grandkids especially - and their spouses! I spent many a Sunday afternoon in her kitchen, catching up on life. When I worked at the church, I would slip in to see her in the back row where she always sat right before first service started. She would always - without fail - give me a hug and a kiss after each visit.
Mike and I had the privilege of getting to visit with her over the past few months as she was in the nursing home - an advantage of living close by.
Today as I pulled into the church parking lot, I felt so sad because those Sunday morning visits are gone.
I miss her.
The funeral service was lovely and meaningful, but the whole week was a whirlwind filled with family, some tears and not a lot of sleep.
So today. We caught up on life a little bit.
We went out to eat with my parents to a place we have spent Mother's Day for every year since 2010. But today - for the first time ever I think - Mike got to join us, so that was wonderful. My boys celebrated Opposite Day and my rambunctious Gray was a completely obedient child at lunch where my laidback Easton was an absolute mess.
We came home from that and rested. Just rested. We had a visit with Mike's parents in the evening - they stopped by on the way to their Bible study.
We put the boys to bed at the same time - something I thought Easton would fight, but he did not thankfully. I will probably be paying for that come 2 am when he is wide awake! :)
Every year we take a picture on Mother's Day :)

And now some out-takes from our photo shoot today. My boys were not very cooperative!
