On the Farm
For those of you who know my husband, it may or may not surprise you that he grew up on a farm.
One of my favorite memories of Mike and me during our dating days: He was driving a tractor while I stood beside him, and he was yell-singing at the top of his lungs, "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy."
Anyway, now that we live closer to Mike's parents, we sometimes spend time out on the farm. With the kids, it's a lot harder now but I think as they get older, they will really enjoy their time out with the cows or doing chores with Grandpa and Grandma.
Each year they have a new crop of calves. And each year is a different theme for names. This year is "type of cookie."
So meet surprise twin calves Ginger and Molasses. They are so cute!
Understandably, Mike is a natural with the cows. He has grown up raising them.
Gray Baby on the other hand?
He takes after me.
Yes, he is trying to get away from the calf.
However I HAVE been known to walk a steer or two in my day. And wash them too!
I wish I could upload the video of him. He was screaming. Honestly he fell asleep about three minutes after this picture was taken. The kid was pooped.
I do think the farm will grow on him as he gets older.
Tonight we went over for dinner. My MIL made me a yummy chocolate angel food cake for my birthday!
We took Gray for a ride on the Mule. Not an actual mule.
He was not a huge fan.
Mike's grandpa and grandma's house is up for auction. I have great memories of visiting his grandma in the kitchen of this house on hot summer days or walking down the driveway to get her mail for her. And seeing Mike's grandpa mow the lawn with his cane sitting next to him.
Mike's parents have a one room school house on their property. Mike's great-grandfather (I believe) attended this particular school.
While Gray might not be a fan of cows or riding the Mule, he IS a huge tree climbing fan.
"Do you think this limb will hold me?!"
No Graysons were hurt in the climbing of this tree.
I feel bad for my little buddy Easton because I don't have neat pictures of him out on the farm. But he did have a good time hanging out with Grandpa and Grandma while we did a little exploring. :)
Needless to say, Grayson was pretty tired after our evening at the farm and he went to bed easily!
