Unintentional Christmas Letter
Well, I went AWOL on the ol' blog for awhile. Not sure what that was about.
I ended up leaving my job at the church (a hard decision for sure) and now as I have been readjusting to full time stay at home mom life, it has been kind of a hard transition for a number of reasons.
But I think that things are getting better, and the kids and I are getting into a routine. Or at least I am attempting to get into a routine with them.
Anyway. Here's an update!
GRAYSON | Grayson is still going to school, and he really enjoys it. He is so funny. I love watching him run around his classroom. You know how they say that your child is your heart walking around outside of your body? Oh my yes. I tell him every single day that he is such a big boy. Other than diapers and his love for pureed veggies (the only way I can get him to eat them!), there is not much baby left in that boy. He is all rough and tumble, all giggles, all testing his mother's patience every single minute of every single day. I love it. He is starting to surprise us by saying new words every once in awhile like "brown" and "pancake" and "grandpa." He will not repeat him when you ask him too. He just looks at you like "I already said it - why do I have to say it again?"
EASTON | Oh my Easty. His naps are getting better, but sleeping through the night is spotty - at best. We have had success the last two nights but who knows how tonight will go. It's anybody's call.
Right now he is sleeping on the couch next to me instead of in his rock and play. I am trying to ditch the rock and play and get him sleeping in his crib. He is not as easy-going as Grayson when it comes to sleeping. Right now I am kicking myself for not getting him into his crib as a newborn.
Not to put too much pressure on him but Easton is my "saving grace." He has the greatest little smile, and all I have to do is look at him or say his name, and his entire face lights up. His giggle is heaven on earth. My heart cannot handle it. God knew what He was doing by giving Easton to us at this period in our lives - something that is reaffirmed to me everyday.
CHRISTMAS | I am in the Christmas spirit today. I found a classic Christmas song station on iTunes radio and played it for the majority of the evening.
I watched White Christmas while the babies were napping and Grayson and I watched some Elf before he went to bed tonight. He loves the part where Buddy is going round and round in the circular doors.
We had to get a new tree because ours broke two years ago when we moved, and we have been kind of making due ever since. We ended up purchasing a new, smaller tree this year and I really like it! I wanted to have colored lights on it because we always had them on our tree when I was a little kid. Grayson is fascinated by the tree and has added socks and animal crackers to its limbs.
MIKE AND ERIN | Not much to report with us. We are looking forward to American Sniper coming out in the theaters on Christmas Day, but Mike is working (of course) so we will probably see it during his time off. Mike continues to keep me laughing with his hilarious work stories. I cringe every time he tells me he helped push a car out of a ditch. We are both currently addicted to the Two Dots game for the iPhone. Mike continues to play Clash of Clans with abandon, sometimes being aided by Grayson who likes to open random apps on my iPad. ;)
I am still involved at church since leaving my position. I just can't quit Children's Ministry - I love the kids! I am teaching third and fourth grade students during one service.
So funny story. Easton got his vaccinations (4 month - I am a little behind!) last week. The nurse who administers them always warns me that the Rotavirus (stomach flu symptoms) vaccine she gives him orally (three doses over 6 months) can be given to someone who kisses him on the lips (I don't do that though sometimes he does it to me!) or if someone (like Gray) would take his pacifier and then put it in his own mouth. (Wow - talk about a run-on.)
We got through Grayson with this vaccine no problems. First dose with Easton? No problems. Second dose with Easton? BIG PROBLEMS. The day he got the vaccine, I was holding him eye-level talking to him and he SNEEZED IN MY MOUTH. And guess what? I came down with rotavirus the next day and was sick through Monday when I ended up being diagnosed with strep throat - yes a separate, unrelated to the rotavirus illness... It was ridiculous. Fortunately I am feeling better.
Wow. This turned into an unintentional Christmas letter-like post. Complete with cute pictures of my kids (thanks to the talented Lindsay Spalding Photography!) I hope you enjoyed it ;) (If you even made it all the way through - this is a long post!)
