Grayson | 2 Years
Grayson. Is. Two. Years. Old.

WOW.
I can't even comprehend that. But yet it is true!
The last two years have been incredibly hard, more wonderful than I could have ever expected and so very fun.
Our Grayson is such a JOY. We just love how he is so excited about every little thing. Everything brings him so much happiness - so much so that he breaks out in a dance or squeals in excitement.
He brings an element of fun to our home.
He is hilarious. He is smart. He is so sweet when he gives "kisses." He is beginning to be quite helpful around the house. I love his sweet little voice. Every single day I tell him how happy I am that he is in my life. I love when he snuggles with me while watching Thomas and how he has such a neat sense of humor for someone so young.
He is also a stinker and acts out sometimes. His tantrums are at a minimum right now. I am enjoying it but I know it won't last! He is two after all.
I feel like he is really coming into his own.
This past week he started his early intervention play group. It meets twice a week and lasts two hours. The first day I stayed with him on request of the teacher, and I was so surprised by how well he did. He is much much younger than the kids in his group and you could tell that, but he followed directions fairly well. The speech therapist worked with him a bit, and before I knew it he was saying, "OH NO!" when it was appropriate.
The second day he went by himself to the play group - Mike dropped him off. I thought that might be a point of contention because he loves Daddy, but Mike said he could barely get his coat off of him before Grayson ran off to play without even a backwards glance. Wow! When we picked him up, I peeked through the door and saw him playing with the other kids and my heart just soared. It was such a good idea to put him into this play group. I am so thankful for it and for the changes I have already seen in my Gray in just two days!
Mike and I have seen his vocabulary expand a little bit over the past few months. We think he probably has about 10 words and more that he says that we can't understand, because he is always talking. I say that we can't understand him, but in some ways - in some motherly intuition kind of way - I do understand some of what he is saying some of the time!
Gray has been dealing with fevers off and on for about a month now. Finally it all seemed to come to a head in the form of an ear infection. I knew he wasn't feeling well when he started to limp...again! Fortunately he was on medicine and the limping has since been resolved. Unfortunately with exposure to other little kids comes illness and on the heels of his ear infection came a cold.
He continues to be an extremely picky eater. He does try some new foods but usually ends up with spitting them out and throwing them on the floor. Frustrating. He is very good at feeding himself now though with a spoon and even a fork on occasion. I am proud of him.
He naps everyday from about 1 to 3 or a little after. He sleeps from about 8 pm to 8 am most nights.
Veggie Tales have taken a back seat to Thomas which he chooses every single time when we ask him what he wants to watch. He loves the theme song especially.
He has a new toy - a trampoline! - and he loves loves it. He gets a very serious look on his face as he starts to hop on it, and it is the cutest thing ever.
Leaving the house is always an adventure. He always knows we are going somewhere when I put my shoes on and then he gets anxious and excited about leaving and that usually comes with some tears, following me around the house and holding on to my pant leg. Since he has started school, he thinks we are going to school I think. This week is off because of Thanksgiving, but he still went to grab for his backpack as we were headed out the door the other day.
He is realizing that Easton is not going anywhere and has found that Easton can be pretty funny. They like to make each other laugh. The sound of them laughing at each other has to be the most precious sound in the world. Grayson often watches every diaper change of Easton's and every bath too. He is very curious!
For his birthday we had a nice dinner of spaghetti and cupcakes with both sets of grandparents. We had such a nice time celebrating our birthday boy. Thank you, Dad, for taking these pictures! :)
At his two year doctor's appointment, Gray weighed 30 lbs and from the best we could guess was about 33 inches tall (he was not super cooperative)! No wonder his pants are now high waters! :)
Grayson Michael, you are a treasure. Your daddy and I are absolutely crazy about you. We thank God for you every single day, and we cannot imagine life without your smile, your craziness, your sweet spirit. We believe that you have a big, bright future head of you. We love you unconditionally. You will never be able to grasp how much we cherish you and how important you are to us! We pray that you will someday accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and that you will live for Him in all you do. That's really the only way to live your life to the fullest after all!
We love you, sweet son - our first born! <3
