A rough day made better

What a day. We are having a rough go of things here right now. From the time Mike left for work until about an hour ago, there was much crying at this house. If it wasn't one kiddo, it was the other - or sometimes both hollering at the same time.

And then there is me. I am feeling a little down. Usually I roll with the punches when it comes to Mike's schedule change, but I am having a hard time this bid. While I know that I am not alone (who can be alone with two kids under the age of two?!), the evenings are hard. Once I get the babies to sleep, I can finally relax and look forward to Mike getting home. If I don't fall asleep before then. If he doesn't work overtime. (Which he sometimes does.)

This evening, Grayson was a mess. He just cried and cried. And he wanted to be held which is not something he ever does. Like he actually came to me when I held my arms out and buried his face in my neck and sobbed. Broke my heart. He refused to eat. Meanwhile, Easton peed through his diaper and was wailing about it too.

So what's a frazzled and sad mommy to do?

Call Grandma and Grandpa. Of course.

It was a hot day and Grandpa got out the hose and the sprinkler for Grayson. I think Grandpa had just as much fun if not more than Grayson.

This kid loves the water. He is our little water baby. Easton maybe not so much as he was accidentally sprayed a little with the hose and was NOT HAPPY about it. Poor kid.

The result of our time at Grandpa and Grandma's? Instantly feeling better. Not as much crying (but still some.) Lots of laughing. No fighting at bed time since both kids were exhausted.

And Mommy joined in on the fun too. That face though. SHEESH.

We are so thankful to live so close to both sets of our parents. On Wednesday Mike's parents watched the boys so that we could go on a second date for our anniversary. It was really wonderful. Two dates in two days?! I don't think that has ever happened since we had Grayson. Ever.
