My New Hobby

It is sad to say that I don't have a hobby. But it is really the truth. I usually say that reading and writing are my hobbies, but I haven't read a book in years (I don't have the patience to make it through a book unless it is really good. Usually I just jump to the end and use context clues to put the story together). And writing? Well since I don't write for my job anymore like I used to, this is all the writing I do unless adding "Mr. Clean sponges" to the grocery list counts.

My hubby on the other hand? Hobbies GALORE. In the ten years we have been together, Mike has been interested in:

- Playing guitar
- Wood carving
- Photography
- Baking
- MINI Coopers
- Indoor soccer
- Guns (I actually need to put this on here like 300 times.)
- Knives
- Holsters (who knew there were so many different kinds!)
- Reading about the military
- Reading every book and watching every movie of Harry Potter (much to my chagrin)
- Playing the ukulele
- Playing the banjo

I am sure there are some that I am missing, but you get the gist.

Lately though as I am rocking Easton and I am trying so desperately to stay awake, I have fallen in love with fashion through blogs and Pinterest via my iPhone. I am not talking like couture type of clothing, but more along the lines of "I don't want to be a frumpy mom" kind of fashion.

Daily (sometimes hourly!) I get online and look at clothes, and I will be honest. I covet them. I want them all. I want the skinny jeans and the riding boots and the statement necklace! But since I just had a baby and I continue on my weight loss quest (I have reached my pre-baby weight so progress!) and because I have no clothing budget at this time, I just pine away for outfits that will never be mine.

I especially love the following blogs:

The Pleated Poppy
Pinterest Told Me To
House of Rose
Mix and Match Family
Maskcara

And a ton of Pinterest boards.

I seriously have an album of photos on my phone of screenshots of outfits I want to buy. I have them handy just in case, I do win the lottery and can have the shopping spree of my dreams. (I don't play the lottery for the record.)

I realize how sad this makes me sound, but so be it. This is my hobby. Someday I will have the money and the time and the dedication to have nice outfits. Until then though, I'll just keep rocking my threadbare jeans that are barely holding together at the seams and Mike's old t-shirts.
