Easton | 4 Weeks
On July 20th, Easton will celebrate his one month birthday!
And we will celebrate it too - because what was life like before Easton came along?
I can't even really remember. I am almost certain I was sleeping more, but that's about it!
| Oh that dimple <3 |
He fits into our little family so well - the calm, laid back child in comparison to his active older brother. I say that but in another six months or so, Easton will also be on the move and then my home will be even more happily chaotic. I can't wait.
To be truthful, the newborn days aren't my favorite. I love Easton to the moon and back, but I honestly can't wait until he is just a little bit older and not so fragile. I am happy that he is getting better head control, because his slight little body was almost my undoing in the first days of his life. I was so afraid of hurting him. Which makes sense because I am used to a hearty toddler who likes to take head dives off the couch for fun.
The other day I was looking through the picture book I made for Mike's parents for Christmas. I was comforted by the fact that these long nights and long days will come to end eventually as I pored through each page of pictures from Grayson's first year. His first year went by so fast now as I look back on it. I am sure I will feel that way about Easton's first year too.
Another thing that I am re-familiarizing myself with is - things taking a lot longer now. When I feed Easton, it sometimes can take up to 45 minutes. It's nice to sit and relax a little bit! We just can't pick up and go - I have to now pack up the diaper bag for two kids! I just can't put Easton to bed and then have the entire evening to myself like I am used too. Oh no, getting him to sleep takes a lot of walking with him in my arms, a lot of rubbing his back over and over and over again...
He likes to eat every three to four hours or so. He doesn't like to sleep, and there are days that he is awake for nearly the entire day.
Basically I haven't gotten much sleep, and I am feeling a bit like a zombie! Not complaining, just stating facts. :) Please excuse any typos or run-on sentences in this post! Ha!
He has the cutest little dimple on his left cheek. I melt every time I see it. Cutest thing ever. And I love his sweet dark hair. He was born with a good amount which makes sense because I really suffered with heartburn!
Grayson seems indifferent about his little brother. Sometimes I catch him poking Easton in his basinet or patting him on his head. But that's about the extent of the interest he shows him.
Easton's first doctor's appointment a week after he was born showed that he had dropped some ounces since being born - which is pretty normal. He weighed 7 lbs and 3 oz. They had us come back after one week for a weight check and the kiddo had gained a whole 11 ounces. See. Told you he loves to eat. He is done with his newborn clothes, and he is fitting into 0-3 and 3 months with a little room to spare. Mike weighed him the other night after bath time, and Easton was tipping the scales at around 10 lbs.
Mike and I aren't really sure who Easton looks like. He was a dead-ringer for Grayson in the ultrasound pictures and in the first couple days after he was born, but his looks are changing by the day it seems.
He is not a huge fan of the pacifier. He will take it for a little bit, but if you try to put it back in his mouth, he makes the most horrible face. It is hilarious and cute.
This past month Easton met his uncle Robbie, aunt Tracy, cousin Emery, cousin Laurenne, uncle Doug, aunt Kristi and cousin Derek. He is blessed with awesome aunts! And uncles. Easton also met his great-grandmas on Mike's side of the family.
