Mother's Day

Today was my third official Mother's Day! I wouldn't be a mom if it wasn't for Grayson. And now Easton. And I wouldn't be the woman/mom, I am today if it wasn't for the blessing of many awesome women in my life: my mom, mother-in-law, grandmas, great-grandmas, aunts, cousins, sisters-in-law and good friends!

With that being said, as a third shift family, Mother's Day looks a little different for me than it probably does for a lot of moms. There is no breakfast in bed, no sleeping in, no time away from the kiddo so I can slip off and do something for myself. This day is pretty much just like any other day, except this year I have a pretty bad cough and a cold to go along with it! Mike and Grayson gave me  a few sweet gifts and cards yesterday, which was just really cute :)

My parents and I have a yearly tradition of eating at Cap City, which is a favorite restaurant of ours near Cbus where Mike and I used to live. We have gone there every year since I was pregnant with Grayson for Mother's Day.

Sadly due to the GD this year, I watched my portions and left the restaurant hungry. Maybe next year I will be able to indulge a little bit.

I always get a little stressed when I have to take Grayson out to eat without Mike's help, because he so responds to Mike and not so much to me. At one point, he threw his pacifier at such a range, a waiter ended up kicking it - so glad that he did not trip over it. And right before we left, he managed to take his left shoe off like a ninja and start banging it on the table. But other than that, he was quite a hit and a lot of people stopped to make a fuss over him. He is adorable - who wouldn't make a fuss over him really??

Someone needs a haircut.

We went to Marshall's/Home Goods then, and Grayson continued to throw his pacifier until I finally just took it away from him. He then bawled and wanted out of the cart to run, but frankly I don't trust him. Needless to say, it was an abbreviated shopping trip! :)

He slept for most of the ride home, but woke up near the end of the trip and wanted to hold my mom's hand. She gladly obliged :)

We visited with my parents for awhile when we got home. Grayson did a little computer work with Grandpa.

And then after Grayson ran laps around the upstairs at their house, I thought maybe we should get some pictures together. I had some stipulations - I wanted pictures to be taken on a downward angle of me to minimize my chins. Somehow that just maximized my pregnant lady arms?? Oh well. :)

This is how that played out...

Next year I will be posing with TWO little boys. I can only imagine the chaos in those pictures.

All in all it was a really good day. I was not feeling great when we got home so I crashed on the couch for about 20 minutes while Grayson crawled all over me and the dog breathed in my face, but isn't that what being a mom is all about? :)

Off-topic...did anyone else have a problem with their iPhone auto-correcting Mother's to another's??? I nearly threw my phone out the window every time it did that - and I wished a lot of mamas Happy Mother's Day today so its like I fought with it all day. So frustrating. First world problems.
