The Past Two Weeks: Pros and Cons

We have had a bumpy past two weeks. Here are two huge things that happened...

The furnace in our two year old house quit working one night before Mike left for work. My parents were out of town so Grayson and I moved right in to their house for the night.

CONS

- Grayson - though quite familiar with Grandma and Grandpa's - was not so sure about sleeping there. After searching the house for Grandma and Grandpa and their dogs and not finding them, he was unsettled.

- He also hated the pack and play that he had to sleep in, but I don't blame him because it was half-collapsed on top of him because I am not smart enough to set it up myself. I couldn't let him sleep with me because somehow his diapered butt ended up in my face and his little feet were kicking me in the chest.

- There were lots of tears shed that night - both his and mine and honestly probably Mike too because I called him upset while he was at work. At 1:30 AM. With a screaming baby in the background.

PROS

- As much cable TV as I ever wanted to watch. I got caught up on all my favorite sitcoms I haven't watched in years.

- The furnace got fixed the very next day. And the part was under warranty.

- Lots of people commiserated with me about the torture device that is the pack and play.

This past Tuesday I fell down the steps at the church and badly sprained my ankle. I was in so much pain that for a few seconds after the incident occurred, I could not speak or breathe and felt like I was going to get sick at any second. I broke out in a sweat. I have never experienced anything like that after an injury and I have broken both arms and fractured my tailbone.

CONS

- I have been on crutches ever since.

- I have a weight restriction on how much I can pick up, and Grayson far exceeds that restrictions. Let's just say I haven't been following it.

- I was told it could take up to six months to properly heal. So I *could* be recovering from this AND a c-section AND dealing with a newborn until he is 3 months old. Awesome.

- I basically crawl around the house if I ever want to get anything done.

- I cried A LOT of tears because I am bummed and 23 weeks pregnant and hormonal. - First being told that I was not pregnant when I was. Then being sick for the first 19 some weeks of this pregnancy. Then dealing with arrhythmia. And now this. This pregnancy has been quite a ride.

- My life would be easier if my husband work a 9 to 5 so I would have the help I need at night with the baby and getting to the bathroom at 3 am. Just saying. Not ever going to happen though.

- I was more or less told that my problems are nothing. True? Yes but not what I needed to hear at the time.

- I still can't figure out how I am supposed to drive. Or get down the steps in the garage (Mike had to carry me the other day - true story). Or put Grayson in his car seat?? That will be interesting.

PROS

- My boss was with me when it happened so I was not alone and laying there without anyone to hear me.

- Also I fell so that I didn't fall on my stomach which is awesome and Baby Easton is just fine.

- The church has wheelchairs which was great and I was wheeled out of the church to my car so I could go to the ER.

- Mike answered his phone the first time I called it - UNHEARD OF when he is sleeping during the day - and my boss swung past the house to pick him up so he could go to the ER with me.

- My mom took care of Grayson and me for two days. It was so nice to relax at her house while she brought me glasses of iced tea and read to my kiddo. And cooked my favorite meals. She is awesome.

- My good friend works at the hospital and she came to the ER when I texted her that I was there. It was such a comfort to see her and I was so thankful she made time out of her busy day to come see me!

That about sums it up. Hopefully the next two weeks will be much less eventful and I will be on my feet again in no time. Now if you excuse me I have to crawl up the steps and go to bed.
