Something I came across...
We are in the process of cleaning out our basement. It has been a work in progress for some months now, and I do believe we are finally making headway - all thanks to Mike's diligence in spending at least two nights of his time off going through boxes while his family sleeps two floors above him.
Last night we spent a little time down in the basement after Grayson had gone to bed. We have such a nice time going through those boxes - not being sarcastic. Something about going through our shared items and deciding whether to toss them, keep them or sell them binds us together just a little bit more as husband and wife.
I came across a big box of pictures, and I set it aside to look through them later. I spent some time this morning going through them. So many of them made me laugh, smile, take a picture with my iPhone and send the pictures to my brother, mother and cousin. Sometimes the pictures made me tear up remembering amazing times in my life. Other pictures got pitched.
And then I came across this gem...

I am guessing my mom took this on the first day of school. I had come across a few pictures of my brother in a similar pose at the end of the driveway waiting for the school bus, and my mom had written "Robbie - First Day of School - September 6, 1988" or something like that.
So I flipped it over, trying to figure out which grade I was in, when I saw this:
I had to laugh at this. What on earth. I love how I wrote this in my elementary school scrawl...Must have been some years after the picture was taken.
Glen Mitchell.
He DID punch me in the stomach one day on the bus, and he made me cry. He was such a bully. I don't even know what I did to him? I think he was in my class. He was constantly accruing demerits throughout the day if I remember correctly.
I used his name as inspiration as the villain in my first story - "Meet Glen Coe."
I wonder what ever happened to Glen Mitchell...
Hopefully he became a fine outstanding member of society, but somehow I am doubting that...
