5 Months | Grayson

Grayson turns 5 months this week. I know I have said in the past that these have been the fastest and slowest days of my life. I think I need to amend my statement...now that we are past the newborn stage, the days and weeks have stopped being slow and started to pick up speed. I guess we are experiencing what all parents have told us about - that times goes by much too fast.

It has been a big month for our Grayson. He has traveled to Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He became the oldest cousin on Mike's side of the family, instead of being the only grandchild. He met many great aunts, great uncles, second cousins and his great-grandparents on my side of the family. He gets dedicated at church this coming Sunday too.

A few things about this month:

- He reaches for EVERYTHING. You have a glass in your hand? He's got to have it. You are trying to eat with him on your lap? Nearly impossible. The other night my aunt was holding him, and he reached for me - which was the first I ever saw him doing that. I loved it, not going to lie. :)

- He tries to sit up. I think he will be sitting up unsupported soon. He slumps down in his bumbo though, which I think is slightly amusing :) Mike says he is lounging. When he lays on his back, he lifts his head up like he trying to sit up.

- He loves to make razzing noises - especially while he eats cereal :)

- He is the best traveler. He traveled roughly 23 hours in the car this past week alone, and he did fantastic. If he is awake, he is talking to the toys hanging from the handle of the carseat. He cried for probably 15 minutes total in all those hours. Not bad! :)

- He has started talking. A lot. He jabbers on and on and sometimes even "answers" you when you talk to him.

- He laughs all the time. He has the best laugh. He is starting to respond to funny faces, which has just been a riot. He also laughs if you laugh. I think it is the most beautiful sound in the world.

- The feet are still his best friends. I normally don't keep socks on him because he is generally happier without them - and I don't want a sock to end up in his mouth. He is content to lay on a blanket on the floor, playing with his feet for hours. Well not hours. But for a long time :)

- We added rice cereal to his diet, and he is eating that very well. At six months, I'll begin slowly adding fruits and veggies.

- At Grayson's four-month appointment, the doctor was concerned because even though he gained 2lbs and over 2 inches, he dropped down into the 5th percentile. So as a result, he goes in this week for a weight check. I am hoping he has gained some weight. He seems heavier to me but we'll see what the doctor says.

- Grayson has an ever-growing slew of nicknames...Gray-bay, Grabes, Gray, Grayson Bayson, LB, Oh-Lil-Baybee, etc.  Lucky for him, his daddy loves to assign pet names...in fact, I can't remember the last time Mike called me by my actual name! :)

- He hates having a shirt pulled over his head and screams his displeasure - and boy does he let you know it. Heaven forbid you have to change his outfit.
