Wednesday Randomness


1. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
I share my middle name with both of my grandmas...Mae. I was ALMOST named after the Pure Prairie League song "Amie."

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
I watched some videos of soldiers coming home from overseas the other day - that made me tear up. I am not big into crying, but those types of things get me every single time.

 3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?
It's okay.

 4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?
Polish ham! Chipped! My mouth is watering just thinking about it :)

Yes! One son - Grayson Michael.

I hope so. :)

 7. DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?
Actually no. I do appreciate it though but I am not very skilled at using it! I just sound mean.

I do.

9. WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP?
No. This reminds me of the Newlywed Game Mike and I played with friends of ours years ago. We had been married just for a short time. We were both asked separately what we probably never let the other do, and we both said "Bungee jumping." Weird, huh? I think we ended up winning that game :)

10. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CEREAL?
I have a love/hate relationship with Cheerios.

 11. DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF?
Never.

12. DO YOU THINK YOU ARE STRONG?
Not in the traditional sense. I don't have defined muscles and a rock hard abs. However, I did grow a baby for nine months - and that takes a lot of strength - physical, mental, emotional, etc. So yes. :)

13. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM?
Graeter's Buckeye Blitz is my favorite. And just chocolate too :)

14. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?
General appearance? I don't know. Maybe if they are friendly or not.

Red.

I am the spender in our family. I have made leaps and bounds to not be, and I am doing much better - but it is still difficult!

I miss my brother and his wife.

Budgeting?

They are pretty important, but I honestly haven't thought much about them since the election. Got other things going on my life that trump politics!

Football, I guess. Not really into sports.

It is weird, but I have kinda lost my appetite, my cravings so to speak since I had Grayson. I just eat what is in front of me and go with that. Nothing sounds good to me anymore. But if you would bake me one of my mom's pizzas, I would not complain! :)

I prefer rom-coms! I hate scary, dramatic movies.

32. LAST MOVIE YOU WATCHED?
27 Dresses! I put that in while I was feeding Grayson the other day.

Gray. One of Mike's old cross country shirts with specks of blue paint on it from when I painted the kitchen at our old house with a good friend last year :)

Summer.

Anything chocolate and peanut butter.

Um...neither? Haha! I have learned I really like yoga...I'll go with that :)

43 and worried

I turned 43 yesterday.  A few weeks ago, I had to get my license renewed. I was feeling okay until I pulled out my old license and went to hold it up against my new license image. Mike caught me doing this, and he said, "NO! Don't do it, Erin!" which made us both laugh until I looked down and was shocked by the contrast. Four years ago, 20 pounds lighter (at least), smiling, hair perfectly done (or as well as I could do hair which isn't ever that great), I looked at least my age. Mike once remarked that of all the many license pictures he sees, mine was a really great picture. (But I know four years ago, life was no easier than it is now - in some ways it was harder.) But then the current picture. No life in the eyes or maybe just a lot of sadness, an abundance of wrinkles, hair that was out of place, and attempt at a half-hearted smile and a few additional chins. He's he-ere!

Introducing... Grayson Michael Born 11/25/12 at 3:02 am Grayson entered the world via emergency c-section. Mike got to step into the role of Daddy immediately and went with the baby while I was in the recovery room. They got to spend some time bonding in the nursery. Grayson is such a joy! He and his daddy hit it off immediately. There is nothing more attractive than watching your husband turn into a daddy. Be still my heart. We were in the hospital for SO many days...I could not wait to get home. I missed my bed. Which funny enough, I haven't gotten to sleep in since that first night home. Taking the steps more than once a day is just too difficult right now. So for now, we have been crashing on the couch. Unfortunately Gray had problems with jaundice, and he had light therapy with a bili blanket. Mike told people his son was rocking a low profile LED light bar - just like a police cruiser ;)  I love his little frowny face :) ...

Ready for the next season...

Usually I love spring. But this year is a different story. Spring has been mostly gray, cold and dreary - and with it, it has brought a great deal of heartache. With the uptick in aggressive behaviors from Grayson (thanks a lot, puberty) and the realization that we are now a year into being provider-less, to being told that Gray was too severe for one provider company, to having to research and call around to group homes to see if they are a good fit for Gray,  to Grayson's constant elopement attempts, to realizing that Grayson goes to therapy and comes home...he has very little to do for fun and he has no one outside of the family or his dedicated therapists to invest in him.  To make matters worse, right now Grayson gets very upset - to the point of property-damaging, when either Mike or I leave the house without him.
