4 Weeks | Grayson

It's been a big first month for Grayson.

Of course, there was that whole being born thing.
That was a really big deal.
(For him - and or me!!)

I'd venture a guess that he has had a month filled with more activity than a lot of newborns.

For instance...

- Had a trip to the hospital for blood work via heel sticks nearly every day that first week he was home.

- Spent several days on light therapy for jaundice through a biliblanket. Which he actually seemed to enjoy though it was heart-breaking for Mike and me!

- Attended Mike's work party at just 6 days old and he was oohed and ahhed over by everyone!

- Had his first photo shoot where unlike most newborns he was wide awake and alert for nearly every picture.

- Watched (okay...slept through) his first Christmas parade from the comfort of Grandpa Rob's office.

- Attended his first fashion show. (Also at Grandpa Rob's office.)

- Went on several trips to Marion and Findlay - even sleeping through a meal at Olive Garden.

- Been out the farm for several visits with Grandma Beth and Grandpa Dave.

- Had some quality time with Grandma Carol.

- Was subjected to several car rides while Mike and I drove around town looking at Christmas lights.

- Met his aunts and uncles on the Smith side.

- Met his great-grandmas B and S. Now he just needs to meet his great-grandparents on my side.

- Had his first Christmas :)

He seems to be quickly outgrowing his newborn-sized clothes...he's not exactly filling them out, but he is growing length-wise. He is now wearing size 1 diapers. I hope he is gaining the weight he needs to...he has his one month appointment this week, so we will see!

He is so funny to watch when he sleeps...he coos and makes the cutest faces. My parents say he already has the "Erin frowny face" that I was so infamous for displaying as a baby.  He does take a pacifier, but he is not the best for holding it in his mouth. He spits it out when he falls asleep. He does like to lay in his basinet, and seems very content to just do that. The other day I spoke to him, and he turned his head to look at me...he is definitely gaining better control of his head and neck.

He is sleeping okay throughout the night - only getting up once or twice to eat. Can't complain.

On Christmas Eve, I was in his nursery, rocking him and singing all sorts of Sunday Schools songs to him. He was on the fussy side, but I guess even the sound of my out-of-tune singing lulled him to sleep. ;) I sat there for a long time and just gazed at his sweet little face. I couldn't help but cry a little bit as I thought about this amazing gift that has been entrusted to Mike and me! We are so blessed!
