It's official. Mike is done with his training that requires him to be away from home. He still has about three more months of field training where he will be working all sorts of shifts...this is something he started several days ago. He's busy with that, but he is still home EVERY DAY. Every day!

I love it. I love it so much I came up with the top 10 reasons (in no particular order) I love having Mike home. (Believe me, I had to limit myself at 10 when I really have thousands of reasons. But would you read thousands of reasons? Probably not.)

1) I have a grocery shopping buddy again!

This is huge. I hate grocery shopping. It is one of my least favorite errands to run, next to filling up my car with gas and going to the post office. Mike is the best at grocery shopping - finding the greatest deals, thinking of new meal ideas. Seriously, he is the expert and that might have something to do with him being in the employ of a grocery store in the past ;)

2) I get fun text messages from him!

He wasn't allowed to have his cell phone on him during training. So when he graduated, he got an iPhone as a graduation gift from our parents and me. Now that he has that, I believe that he is as hooked on his phone as I am mine, and everyone else I know that have iPhones. Of course he doesn't text me while he's working, unless he is on a break, but how wonderful to check my phone and see a message from him waiting for me.

3) His hilarious commentary during The Bachelor and Downtown Abbey: How I have missed it!

Mike is so fun to watch TV with. He makes the most off-the-wall comments, and I love it. His sense of humor is one of my favorite things about him.

4) He cooks dinner.

I am a crappy chef. Nearly everything I attempt to cook does not turn out. Mike on the other hand - amazing cook and an even better baker.

5) He brings the trash can in from the street.

It's really the little things, isn't it? For the past 23 weeks, I've had to take care of the trash each week. I love not having to do that anymore.

6) He takes care of me.

I was pretty sick last night. I woke him up in the middle of the night, and he rubbed my back for me as I was in a lot of pain. This morning I called off of work, and he went out and got me breakfast. He kept me company this morning and made sure that I was feeling better before he left for work.

7) His presence alone in the house makes a world of difference.

His coat slung over a chair, his official Stetson sitting on his dresser, his dishes in the sink. Even if he isn't home, there are telltale signs that he was there.

8) I feel like a different person now that he is home.

I am not sad or depressed or heartbroken. I am feeling upbeat about our future and I approach each day with a bounce in my step.

9) We are going to work on me running a 5k!

Mike is a runner. And because of his new job, he has to weigh in every month. So with that being the case, our lifestyles are going to change and fast. They already have - we have been making meals for the past several days. And since Mike is a runner,I want to be a runner too. I took on the C25K challenge last year and I quit half-way through. :( I need Mike's encouragement to keep moving.

10) We can hang out with our friends again!

We had standing game nights with our friends nearby. with Mike's crazy schedule, it was difficult to make any plans. Now that Mike's done with training, we have plans for both nights of his days off with good friends! :)
