Catching up!
It's been approximately 11 days since I last posted. Let me tell you a little bit about the past 11 days...
WORK HAPPENED
It's a running joke in my department that I break the copier. I swear I do not, but I still get accused of it. Since so many people use the copier sitting next to my desk, I am always the one called in to change toner, fill the paper, clear the paper jams or call the printshop in the building and request that someone fix it when I have exhausted my limited knowledge in copier mechanics. Lately the copier has been making a noise that I can only describe as what a donkey sounds like when it's dying. Or maybe more like the chorus of the Christmas song "Dominic the Donkey." Every time the repairman comes in to fix it, he cannot replicate the noise. So I decided to record it on my phone, and I showed it to the repairman - and that resulted in this. He still didn't fix it. He gave up for the day and said to keep a log on how often it makes that noise and at what time of the day.
Fortunately the copier is no longer my responsibility. Why? Because I moved. Only to move again in two weeks. I am getting moved to the marketing department which thrills me to no end. I'll miss my project managers, but not the ridiculous amount of stress. In the meantime, my boss moved his office, which means I had to also. I cleaned out my many many folders...
Believe it or not, I had a different proposal in each one of this file folders. This was from January 2008 until May 2008. Crazy.
Then I moved to this desk. My temporary home until my replacement comes back from maternity leave in about two weeks. Then I'll be heading to the third floor!
LIFE HAPPENED
My parents came to visit last weekend. They helped us get a lot of work done around the house for Mike's graduation party and so that we can put the house on the market in the next two weeks. They brought their two Bichons, Daisy's "aunts." We are thankful our dogs love each other!
Last Sunday we went to a glass blowing class to celebrate my mom's birthday. It's something she has always wanted to do, and so I found a local glass-blowing studio and booked a class. I think it's going to be something we do every year. We had a lot of fun! Here's my handsome husband working on his ornament...
Last week was also Valentine's Day. I was bummed that I didn't get to see Mike or talk to him, but Valentine's Day has always been one of my very favorite holidays! Even through my MANY years of single-ness. I got to work and found some pretty flowers on my desk from one of my coworkers.
As it turns out, Mike's class was allowed 15 minutes to call on Valentine's Day. What a treat to get to talk to him!
GRADUATION PARTY HAPPENED
I have been planning a graduation party for Mike since his official Academy training comes to an end this coming Friday. It is hard to believe that we are now just 6 days from his being an official law enforcement officer! We had a great turn out - Nearly everyone I invited (in-state) attended. We learned we can pack a lot of people into our little house! Mike's grandma, our parents, Mike's cousins, old and new friends, neighbors...it was just a great day! And I loved having a bunch of little kids in the house! Seeing them interact and play together was good for my heart and bad for my biological clock. ;)
My mom and dad got me this beautiful charm that I strung on to a silver chain I have from another necklace. They also got me a Thin Blue Line bead for my Pandora bracelet :)
But probably the best part of this weekend was finding this on my bedside table...
:)
So that's it for now. I probably won't write again after graduation because this week is sure to be jam-packed. I told Mike that I felt bad about failing my challenge of posting a picture everyday, and he said - "You didn't fail. You just took a break." And heaven knows I needed it :)
