Years ago, my sister-in-law told me something interesting - and it has stuck with me since. She said the best way to clean your house is while you are wearing high heels. She claimed that there is something fun and very June Cleaver-ish about vaccuuming your house in your best heels.
So that's what I am doing today. But I am not doing it so I can feel like June Cleaver. I am doing it because I desperately need to break in a pair of heels that I spent a ridiculous amount of money on. Seriously. I have never spent this much money on a pair of shoes before.
And I feel guilty because I don't wear them because they are so completely uncomfortable, but I spent Mike's and my hard earned money on something I decided I wanted on an impulse. I used to struggle with impulse shopping - and sometimes I still treat myself to a nice shirt or skirt here and again, but I don't engage in impulse shopping like I used to. It used to be a sickness. I wish I was kidding. Mike has really helped me make better financial decisions over the years.
Anyway. What are these shoes?

Now I adore TOMS. I have four pairs, including the offensive wedges I am now wearing as I type this. I have the black glitters, the blue glitters and the red canvas classics - and I am aim to own more pairs. I am a lot like my Grandma Wissinger, who had a pair of Keds in every color of the rainbow. I want one in every color! :) All of them are so comfortable! All but the wedges.
I read the reviews, and since just about everyone loved them, I purchased them on a whim. I was so excited that I wore them to work - and that first day = painful. They don't fit my heels very well. I think I have narrow heels because they are tight in the toe box and then they flop up and down at the heel. There is something not professional about a woman clomping around the office in too big heels. So I have worn them around the house ever since, trying to get used to them, but so far I haven't had much luck. The toe box has stretched out a little bit but not enough considering my toes are asleep right now.
I bought Dr. Scholl's heel inserts - and they seem to keeping my foot in place. For the time being. I am anxious about wearing them to work, but maybe I will sneak a pair of flipflops in and put those on when my feet begin to ache. Won't be the first time I've done that ;)
These wedges are adorable. I bought them and a pair of shoes went to someone in a Third World country who has never owned shoes before. When I wear them, I don't have to stand on my tiptoes to give Mike a kiss. There are some definite good things about these shoes. Now if I could just get used to wearing them.
