Today was an odd day.
I was sitting at my desk, feeling just fine - when a picture message beeped into my cell. I picked my phone up, flipped it open and was greeted by a picture from my mom of at least 50 soldiers standing at command.
And then it hit me. My older brother is headed to Afghanistan soon. (My parents were at his deployment ceremony this morning.)
And then I burst into tears. I sat at my desk, snorting, red faced, tissues in hand trying to not draw a lot of attention to myself.
This is his fourth time overseas, and it never gets easier - as one may think it would. It is hard every time you have to say goodbye to someone you love - especially in a situation like this. I kept saying this deployment won't make much difference to me - for a lot of reasons, but mainly because I don't see my brother all that often - he lives states away, and he is working a pretty dangerous job in the civilian world as it is. I think it would be harder if I knew that he hated the military life - but nothing could be farther from the truth.
I love you, R, and I am praying for you everyday.
